Job Details ChristianaCare School-Based Health Centers is looking to hire a Float Medical Assistant I. ChristianaCare School-Based Health Centers make highquality, accessible health care available directly to students where they need it most-on campus. By operating within the school setting, these centers remove common barriers to care such as transportation challenges, limited appointment availability, and concerns about cost or confidentiality. Through partnerships with local school districts and the Delaware Division of Public Health, our centers provide comprehensive medical and mental health services designed to support student wellness and academic success. Services include physical exams, health screenings, women's and reproductive health, treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, immunizations, nutrition and weightmanagement counseling, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, tobacco cessation, and substanceuse support and referral. While we do not provide hospitalization, Xrays, complex lab testing, or longterm management of complex medical or psychiatric conditions, students who visit our centers gain access not only to onsite services but also to ChristianaCare's extensive system of care. This integrated, wraparound approach is proven to improve engagement and promote positive health outcomes for youth. School-Based Health Centers \| ChristianaCare As a *Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. Flexibility to cross cover high schools and/or elementary schools in Newcastle and Kent Counties, required. Cross coverages are based on the department's needs.* Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm, which is contingent on the school schedule Duties / Responsibilities: A *Medical Assistant I* role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at providing patient care and administrative support within a healthcare practice. Key duties include greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site, rooming patients, and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs. The *Medical Assistant I* performs point of care testing, administers injections and medications, and conducts EKGs when needed. Support for clinicians during examinations and procedures is critical, and this includes preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies, completing patient-specific paperwork, and ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits. The *Medical Assistant I* handles patient callbacks with information as directed by providers and follows state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment. The *Medical Assistant I* manages prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills, schedules tests and surgeries, and performs quality control on point of care testing equipment. The *Medical Assistant I* offer documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures, undertake clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors, troubleshoot issues with video visits, and help patients utilize ChristianaCare's Patient Portal. Safety is paramount, as the *Medical Assistant I* is responsible for working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
