We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience applying systems engineering concepts to help convert technical objectives into real-world test configurations, review test plans for scientific process, coordinate radio frequency approval documents, maintain schedules for large projects, and fly quadcopters for counter Unmanned Aerial Systems efforts.

The Systems Engineer will support the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. Travel will be required for this position. #KS

This position requires the application of sound systems engineering concepts and scientific and technical practices throughout the test and experimentation process. Successful applicants will help define testable technical objectives that when achieved, will clearly identify system capabilities and limitations. Additionally, the applicant will contribute to the development of test plans, test execution, analysis, and reporting of organization test events.

Spectrum Management - Support the RDMT spectrum manager with development of documentation for and coordinating spectrum management requirements including those for obtaining approvals for electronic attack and radio frequency requests; Routinely interface with senior level representatives of the Joint Staff, the FAA, the Services, and other government agencies for the development or updating of manuals, instructions, and procedures regarding the testing, training, and operation of directed energy weapons; Assist in the coordination with the Foreign Disclosure Office and Program Offices to provide frequency clearance information to be evaluated by foreign governments.

Approvals and certifications - Assist the organization with fielding and transitioning of DE systems to operational use; Function as the primary party responsible for helping receiving units execute the Directed Energy Weapons Review and Approval Process (DEWRAP) including providing guidance to and coordinating with receiving units, component commands, combatant commands, and the Joint Staff; Assist Technical Divisions in the development of other certifications and approvals such as authorities to operate (ATO), initial approval to test (IATT), and cyber packages.

Support engineering reviews and assessments including development of technical information such as HERO, HERF, and HERP calculations needed for execution of tests and operations of High-Power Microwave (HPM) and High Energy Laser (HEL) systems as needed.

General test support - Responsible for supporting the planning, tracking, execution, and reporting of HPM and HEL test and events; Assist with test site design and configuration, assessing/addressing project risks, and project schedule management; Review test plans and standard operating procedures developed by other organizations and contractor personnel.

Small UAS flight operations - Participate in the organization's small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) flight program. Operate group 1 and 2 fixed and rotary wing UASs used to challenge DEW during testing to assess their capability to support the counter small UAS mission; Complete all required training, system preparation and maintenance requirements, execution (flying) activities, and logging flight/sortie data.

Instrumentation/data collection - As the alternate responsible party, operate basic HPM and HEL data acquisition systems owned by the government such as the TSPI target tracking and the PEMSVA power density measurement/diagnostics systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Active Secret security clearance
• 3-10 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or other S&T areas such as Physics or Mathematics preferred
• Work Location and Travel Requirements: Ability to be on-site at Kirtland AFB or at an off-site 25-50% of the time. Ability to travel one to three times per year for a two-week period per trip to CONUS or OCONUS locations to support DE field testing. Ability to travel two or three times to conduct site surveys/visits or interface meetings at other government facilites. Ability to travel two or three times to support spectrum management and FAA interface meetings
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills
