The Tooling, Process, andTraining teamis responsible fordeveloping the hardware and processes used during the installation, commissioning, and service of Tesla Energy products. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing the energy industry forward byworking closely with internal customers toidentify, develop, and refine practical solutions to enableefficient installation andserviceof Megapack, Powerwall, Supercharger, andresidential solar. The ideal candidate is someone who getsexcitedsolving a variety of problems, is highly analytical, and sees the big picture needed to evolve a concept into a product.

What You'll Do
  • Ownmechanical design, testing, and release of serviceandinstallation tooling used inresidential and industrialenergy applications

  • Create test and rollout plans fortoolingdesigns

  • Assistin engineering prototype builds andcomponentfabrication

  • Workwith field serviceengineeringand technicalpublicationsteams to create documentation and training to ensure consistent and stable global service operations

  • Work withsuppliersto perform DFM/DFA studies to reducecostand improve performance of service tooling for largevolume

  • Collaborate with industrial and process engineers to support process development andservicetoolingimprovement.


What You'll Bring
  • 2+years ofexperience in mechanical design

  • Ability to work from engineering first principles to solvenovelproblems and complete projects undertightdeadlines

  • Strong3D CAD experience,3DXorSolidworkspreferred

  • Hands on experience building mechanical andelectromechanicalsystems

  • Experiencedesigningforcommon manufacturing methods including machining, sheet metal forming,injection molding,welding,and 3d printing

  • Excellent fundamental engineering knowledgewithexamples of applied engineering success throughpastwork, projects, or academic endeavors

  • Familiarity with working with various outside suppliers and managing deliverables

  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

  • Knowledge of structural and thermal FEA experienceisa plus

    Expected Compensation
    $91,600 - $164,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
