What to Expect
We are seeking a skilled Failure Analysis Technician to investigate and diagnose hardware failures, ensuring the reliability of computer systems and supporting product development at Tesla. This role involves hands-on work with prototype hardware, conducting detailed failure analysis, and collaborating closely with engineering teams to drive innovation and quality in our products.
What You'll Do
- Conduct hands-on failure analysis on failed parts, components, or systems
- Perform physical inspections, teardowns, disassembly, and sample preparation
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify failure modes and root causes
- Document findings in detailed reports, including photos, measurements, and recommendations for corrective actions
- Manage device under test inventory, maintain test equipment, and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to support product development and testing of autopilot and microcontroller electronic control units
- Perform rework, assembly, and debugging of prototype hardware, including basic printed circuit board assembly soldering
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the engineering industry
- Knowledge of electronic circuits, schematics, and assembly techniques
- Proven hands-on skills in assembling, disassembling, and modifying prototype hardware, with proficiency in basic printed circuit board assembly soldering and rework
- Experience using lab equipment, including multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes
- Solid debugging and failure analysis skills for electronic circuits
- Ability to independently execute tests with minimal oversight from engineers

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
