Your Opportunity Manages and coordinates production of all assigned boar studs. Responsible for the financial performance, production performance, property management, and personnel management of all assigned locations. Core Responsibility
Mentor, develop, and train boar stud managers on their responsibilities in managing boar stud production and overseeing lab duties. Learn, understand, implement and train boar stud managers on all policies and procedures that relate to Biosecurity. Follow the safety requirement of the Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS) and take an active role in the processes of the management system. Follow and train boar stud managers on the Company's animal welfare policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal's needs, providing access to adequate water and high quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasia. Help develop and implement Boar Stud SOP's Develop farm managers and company employees into improved production and procedural compliance Evaluate farms' performance and outline plans and timelines for improvement. Monitor the schedule of animal movements into and out of the farms for both biosecurity and implementation of genetic gain. Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and how it applies to specific worksites. Other tasks as assigned.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Animal Science or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching or mentoring to less experienced staff or through managing a process or project Must have valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record per company policy. Experience in Hog System Management, preferably in Smithfield Systems . Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Programs Must be on call to work in emergency situations to include but not limited to, power outages or personnel shortages. Ability to utilize math to calculate performance for production and financial performance and to make decisions based on those calculations. Verbal and written communication skills to included making presentations to groups of various size.

Must be able to frequently climb over, under, and around penning. Must be able to walk and stand on concrete for 9 to 12 hours per day, walking down narrow alleys and in and out of narrow penning and inside pens with animals. Must be able to walk an average of 2 - 4 miles per day, occasionally up to 5 or 6. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a limited basis. This position requires approximately 50% travel.

Must be able to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditions.
