Summary
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer -SAP BW/Datasphere to design, build, and operate enterprise-scale SAP data solutions that power analytics, reporting, and digital experiences. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on SAP BW / BW/4HANA and SAP Datasphere (Business Data Cloud / BDC), with responsibility for data modeling, integration, performance optimization, and downstream consumption.
The ideal candidate is a senior individual contributor who combines deep SAP data engineering expertise with experience enabling analytics across SAP Fiori, Power BI, and modern cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric (preferred). This role plays a critical part in modernizing SAP data platforms while ensuring reliability, governance, and scalability.
Beginning May 4, Associates are required to come to the office in Libertyville, IL a minimum of 4 days per week.
Responsibilities
SAP BW & Datasphere Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain SAP BW / BW/4HANA data models, transformations, and process chains.
- Build and manage data pipelines in SAP Datasphere (BDC), including data acquisition, transformation logic, semantic modeling, and space management.
- Integrate SAP source systems (e.g., S/4HANA, ECC) with BW, Datasphere, and downstream analytics platforms.
- Optimize data performance, load efficiency, and query response times across SAP data environments.
Hands-On Data Development
- Actively develop, test, deploy, and support SAP data engineering solutions-this is not a purely architectural or advisory role.
- Create and optimize SQL, CDS views, transformations, and data models to support analytical and operational use cases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, performance, and pipeline failures across the end-to-end data flow.
SAP Fiori & Embedded Analytics Enablement
- Apply working knowledge of SAP Fiori to ensure SAP data models are optimized for Fiori-based analytics and embedded reporting.
- Support data exposure through CDS views and OData services as required for Fiori analytical applications.
- Collaborate with application and functional teams to align data models with Fiori consumption and performance expectations.
Analytics & BI Consumption
- Enable enterprise reporting and self-service analytics by supporting data models consumed by Power BI and other BI tools.
- Ensure consistent, governed semantic layers across SAP and non-SAP analytics platforms.
- Partner with analytics and business teams to translate reporting and insight needs into scalable data engineering solutions.
Modern Data Platform Integration
- Contribute to SAP data modernization initiatives, including integration with Microsoft Fabric (preferred).
- Support SAP data integration with cloud-based data warehouses and lakehouse platforms such as Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Participate in hybrid architecture patterns spanning SAP and cloud analytics ecosystems.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Work closely with data architects, analytics teams, application teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and best-practice recommendations within SAP data engineering domains.
Maintain strong documentation, data lineage awareness, and engineering standards.
Essential Functions of the Role

Education & Work Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 8-12 years of related experience
Education & Work Preferences
- SAP Certified - SAP Business Data Cloud
- SAP Certified Associate - Data Engineer - SAP BW/4HANA
- Familiarity with SAP (S/4, BW/BPC) and Salesforce integration patterns; Boomi experience is a plus.
- Exposure to applied AI in analytics (Copilot, prompt engineering, RAG over enterprise data).
- Hands-on experience with Vibe Coding (or similar low-code/no-code frameworks) to accelerate development and enable rapid prototyping of data workflows.
Experience with Databricks for ELT/ETL development, Lakehouse engineering, Delta Lake optimization, and Spark-based data pipelines

Our Total Rewards package in aggregate is above market and includes competitive pay, paid time off programs, peer-to-peer recognition, health and life insurance, wellness programs and incentives, and generous retirement savings.
- The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 - $152,000 yearly. The actual salary varies based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, abilities, and other legitimate business factors.
- This position is also eligible to participate in the Hollister Corporate Bonus Plan.
