Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States, IBSRELA (tenapanor) and XPHOZAH (tenapanor). Ardelyx has agreements for the development and commercialization of tenapanor outside of the U.S. Kyowa Kirin commercializes PHOZEVEL (tenapanor) for hyperphosphatemia in Japan. A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been approved in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada.
Position Summary:
The IBSRELA East and West Commercial Sales Interns will be fully immersed in the daytoday work of a pharmaceutical commercial sales organization, supporting our IBSRELA brand across two US regions. Each intern will partner closely with National Sales Directors (secondline leaders), Zone Directors (firstline leaders), and Area Business Directors (field sales representatives) both in and out of the field to learn how a highperforming specialty sales team operates. Interns will complete IBSRELA sales onboarding and provide additional operational support to the sales field.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Sales training & onboarding
    • Complete IBSRELA sales onboarding and product training to build foundational knowledge of the product, disease state, and selling model.
    • Learn how to execute compliant, valuedriven sales conversations with healthcare providers through role plays, observations, and coaching.
  • Field immersion & shadowing
    • Accompany Area Business Directors on field rides to observe customer interactions, territory planning, and call execution (East or West region, depending on role).
    • Debrief with Zone Directors and National Sales Directors to reflect on field experiences, share insights, and receive feedback.
  • Operational and analytical support
    • Support sales leadership with operational tasks such as updating call plans, tracking initiatives, and organizing field resources.
    • Assist with preparing sales meeting materials, territory summaries, and basic activity or performance reports.
  • Project work with sales leadership
    • Collaborate on region or zonespecific projects that may include market research, targeting support, or pullthrough activities for IBSRELA.
    • Participate in sales team meetings and contribute to discussions on strategy, best practices, and field execution.
Desired Outcomes:
  • Strong understanding of what it is like to work in a commercial pharmaceutical sales role, including field responsibilities, planning, and execution.
  • Additional layer of operational and project support that helps National Sales Directors, Zone Directors, and Area Business Directors execute effectively in the field.
  • Enhanced sales readiness for the intern, including foundational selling skills, product knowledge, and exposure to realworld customer interactions.
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Communications, or a related field.
  • Interest in pharmaceutical/biotech sales and working with healthcare providers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Selfmotivated, organized, and willing to travel within the assigned region as needed.
Preferred Skills:
  • Prior experience in customerfacing, sales, or campus leadership roles is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare or life sciences terminology helpful but not required.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel for simple reporting and presentations.

The hourly rate for this Internship position is $25/hour Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers.
