Job Scope

The Engineering Technician II, Depot Services will be responsible for providing technical assistance to junior team members, assist in inventory management, assist in workgroup team training, and perform diagnostic and repair services on Luminex equipment for end-users, partners, distributors, and internal customers, documenting repair services, labor hours and part inventories within the Luminex data management system, ensuring Depot Services adhere to the approved procedures for safety, quality, repair work orders and packaging and assisting the Field Service Department and other Luminex regional offices for diagnostic and troubleshooting Luminex instruments via phone or email as required.

Duties and Responsibilties



  • Assist with documentation, training of junior team members, inventory management, and field service troubleshooting.
  • Ensure safety, quality, work order documentation, and service practices follow Luminex approved procedures.
  • Participate in lean inventory reductions and efficient stock replenishment.
  • Provide testing, repair, and system updates of Luminex instruments using opto-electronic, electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and fluidic disciplines.
  • Perform worldwide parts warranty return part validation testing as required.
  • Deliver approved diagnostic and troubleshooting department service training as required.
  • Perform other department duties assigned as deemed necessary.



Education, Experience and Qualifications



  • Associate's Degree Associates in Electronics Technology or equivalent required
  • 3+ Years Related experience and/or training required
  • 2+ Years Minimum two years' experience with flow-cytometer systems, imaging systems, fluorimeter systems/applications or technically equivalent devices preferred
  • 2+ Years Minimum two years' experience working in a medical device servicing environment preferred
  • 2+ Years Minimum two years' experience with PCBA component level troubleshooting, solder capable preferred
  • 2+ Years Minimum two years' experience with system level testing and troubleshooting preferred
  • Understanding with compliance to ISO, FDA and other regulatory agencies as well as quality process management and implementation
  • BOM principles and process improvement, standard manufacturing practices, workmanship/quality standards and practices
  • Proficiency using standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM's, signal generators, power meters, and AC/DC power supplies
  • Good communication skills
  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Well-developed problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to organize work in an efficient manner, in addition to the ability to work well under stress and time pressures
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and hydraulic schematic diagrams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision



Travel Requirements



  • 10% Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
