What to Expect
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager with deep Manufacturing Controls Development expertise to join our team. The successful candidate will work side-by-side with cross-functional teams - including manufacturing, design, process, and automation, to program, commission, and scale new equipment for our energy products, vehicles, and Optimus programs. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience programming PLCs, HMIs, industrial robotics, and other manufacturing equipment, and can drive this technical expertise through to full project execution.This role requires high organization and a controls-oriented, "know-how-it's-done" mindset to anticipate needs and effectively plan controls engineering resourcing across multiple projects, locations, timelines, and priorities. You will collaborate with world-class manufacturing engineering, production, facilities, and quality teams to ensure timely execution and support controls engineers in bringing new equipment to life. You will work across our factories in Austin, Brookshire, Buffalo, Fremont, and Reno to triage project needs, resolve dependencies, and proactively clear roadblocks.
What You'll Do
- Intake and manage requests for controls engineering to ensure successful launches of new manufacturing lines in all Tesla locations
- Create, maintain and communicate schedules for controls leaders, make staffing recommendations and diversions needed to meet key project milestones, such as Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, and Start of Production
- Track equipment readiness and report effectively on status, blockers and changes
- Coordinate engineering interventions at vendors and partners to recover project timelines
- Identify technical and procedural development opportunities within and across manufacturing teams and drive activities to unify solutions and approaches
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years in controls, automation, or manufacturing engineering
- Experience in technical program or project management
- Coordination experience linking technical members of different disciplines, and between technical and non-technical teams
- Experience with project management tools (Project, JIRA)
- Experience in a machine-building or manufacturing environment
- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
