Role Overview

PIMCO is seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Vice President, Senior Compliance Officer to lead critical components of the firm's global compliance program. This is a leadership role focused on Central Compliance oversight, regulatory excellence, and enterprise-level program execution. The role also supports targeted transformation and modernization initiatives designed to strengthen the effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability of the compliance function.

As a senior leader within the Compliance organization, you will provide strategic direction across core regulatory frameworks, oversee enterprise compliance governance, mentor and develop senior leaders, and partner closely with regional and functional stakeholders globally to ensure consistency and resilience in program execution. You will regularly communicate compliance strategy, risk insights, emerging issues, and program effectiveness to senior Legal and Compliance leadership and, where appropriate, external stakeholders, reinforcing PIMCO's commitment to integrity, transparency, and risk excellence.

This role is well suited for a compliance executive with deep global regulatory expertise, strong leadership capability, and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to driving disciplined change where it meaningfully improves compliance outcomes.

Responsibilities

Central Compliance Leadership & Regulatory Oversight

  • Compliance Program Leadership: Lead and oversee key components of PIMCO's global compliance program, ensuring robust governance, regulatory alignment, and effective risk identification, escalation, and resolution.

  • Risk Identification & Resolution: Proactively identify, assess, escalate, and mitigate conflicts of interest and other material compliance risks through strong controls, surveillance, and governance mechanisms.

  • Global Partnership: Partner closely with regional Compliance teams to ensure global consistency, coordination, and adoption of best practices, while accounting for jurisdictional regulatory requirements.

  • Team Development: Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing compliance organization, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.

  • Executive Reporting: Deliver clear, concise, and timely updates on compliance risks, issues, themes, and program effectiveness to senior Legal and Compliance leadership and relevant governance forums.

  • Strategic Execution: Lead and execute strategic initiatives that strengthen compliance frameworks, policies, controls, and operational resilience, including select enterprise-wide and compliance transformation initiatives aligned with firm priorities.

  • Operational Effectiveness: Drive targeted improvements to compliance processes, workflows, systems, and data quality to enhance efficiency, scalability, and long-term sustainability of the program.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required (Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred).

  • Advanced credentials such as a JD, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification are highly valued.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive compliance experience within a large, complex investment management or financial services organization.

  • Demonstrated expertise designing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs in accordance with Rule 206(4)-7 of the Investment Advisers Act.

  • At least 5 years of senior leadership experience with direct people management, coaching, and talent development responsibility.

  • Experience leading or supporting transformation, modernization, or change initiatives within a compliance, risk, or control function is strongly preferred.

Compliance & Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience across key compliance domains, including:

    • Code of Ethics administration

    • Personal trading surveillance

    • Electronic communications monitoring

    • Political contributions compliance

    • Proxy voting oversight

  • Strong understanding of global equity and fixed income markets, including bonds, equities, derivatives, and related investment strategies.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
Salary Range: $ 215,000.00 - $ 260,000.00
