Welcome to FSB's Mechanical Engineering team, where problem-solving, precision, and expertise come together to bring the diverse designs we create into existence within the built environment. From complex state-of-the-art building systems to robust mission critical infrastructure, our work is grounded in technical excellence and driven by a commitment to getting it right. FSB is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers while supporting the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects. This role blends technical leadership, team professional development and mentorship, and both production oversight and direct production assistance to ensure projects are delivered in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. We take pride in the quality of our work and in delivering client satisfaction. Just as important, we do it together by collaborating across disciplines, supporting one another, and continuously raising the bar for what we deliver. Team Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a team of three to five mechanical engineers and designers across multiple projects, ensuring work is planned, coordinated, and aligned with project goals and deadlines
- Plan, assign, and manage team workload and production efforts, translating project requirements into clear work plans that align with scope, schedule, and staffing capacity
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, guiding system design, resolving complex challenges, and supporting high-quality, coordinated deliverables
- Oversee the preparation, coordination, and review of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and calculations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical systems, constructability, and code compliance, supporting informed decision-making across projects
- Drive the development and continuous improvement of discipline-specific tools, workflows, standards, training materials, and production processes
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop team members through ongoing feedback, mentorship, and formal performance evaluations, supporting both technical growth and professional development
- Monitor team performance, workload, and utilization, identifying gaps, risks, or inefficiencies and communicating proactively with leadership
- Support staffing and workforce planning efforts, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding, to build and retain a strong team
- Ensure accountability across the team by setting clear expectations, tracking progress, and addressing performance or delivery challenges
- Align team effort with project scope, schedule, and budget, contributing to accurate planning, forecasting, and overall project performance
- Foster a culture of clear communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement while reinforcing firm QA/QC standards and the professional standard of care
Required Skills
- Ability to lead technical discussions and present mechanical design solutions to clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities
- Strong collaboration with Project Managers to align production efforts with project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
- Demonstrated ability to guide teams through all phases of project delivery, including design, documentation, and construction administration
- Advanced technical expertise in mechanical systems design, code interpretation, and constructability, with the ability to resolve complex challenges
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple simultaneous projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and development of engineering specifications, with experience reviewing and coordinating multidisciplinary deliverables
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with progressive leadership responsibilities, including at least 5 years of consulting engineering design experience
At FSB, we believe strong teams and strong leadership are what drive exceptional work. If you're someone who enjoys developing people, solving complex technical challenges, and elevating the quality of both projects and teams, you'll find a meaningful opportunity to lead and make an impact here.
