| Primary Purpose of the Organization: |
The purpose of the
Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP) is to ensure compliance with federal, state laws, and
UNC policies; to clarify proposal submission procedures and processing of external sponsored funding announcements.
OSRP is a support structure that assists faculty, staff, and students in identifying appropriate funding sources aligned with academic and research interests, developing proposals and budgets, and establishing a process for the pre- and post-award nonfinancial administration of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. The office advocates for a campus environment conducive to the research enterprise and advises the administration on regulatory compliance issues. |
| Primary Purpose of the Position: |
The Post-Awards administrator will be responsible for ensuring that the faculty, project directors, and the university remain in compliance with the terms of the agreement. This position will police actions taken during the life of the award to ensure compliance. This position is responsible for executing the full range of post-award administrative functions for sponsored programs. It serves as a liaison between the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and other administrative units, particularly the Office of Contracts and Grants, in developing the necessary management information systems for sponsored programs management. This position will be cross-trained and serve as a backup in the Budget Office's absence.
This position is funded by non-state funds and has been designated time-limited. Continuation of this position is contingent upon the continuing availability of those non-state funds.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Knowledge skills and abilities: |
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A high level of proficiency in applying technical expertise in post-awards and, to some extent, pre-award administration of sponsored programs is essential.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures in a university setting is required.
- The employee must have strong analytical skills to interpret data, prepare summary reports, generate documents, and compose guidelines for faculty and staff researchers.
- Knowledge of federal and state acquisition regulations and grant and contract provisions.
- Experience with personal computers and local area networks, and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

| Preferred Qualifications: |
- A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field and a
- minimum of two years of previous experience in the administration of sponsored programs in a college or university setting are required, or four years of relevant experience.
- The employee must have a working knowledge of federal and state acquisition regulations and grant and contract provisions.
- Experience with personal computers and local area networks, and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
