This position provides enterprise leadership, governance, and oversight for all end-user application and system training activities across SIU School of Medicine's clinical, revenue cycle, and administrative environments. The position is responsible for the full lifecycle of Epic and third-party application training, including strategy, development, delivery, validation, and sustainment.

Examples of Duties

70% Management - Training Strategy, Governance, and Oversight 1. Lead enterprise role-based training strategy for Epic and integrated applications 2. Define and maintain standardized training pathways aligned with workflows and best practices 3. Establish and oversee training governance, reporting, and validation processes 4. Monitor training metrics and identify readiness risks and gaps 5. Provide oversight of provider training programs (e.g., Thrive, Provider Champions, efficiency initiatives) 6. Serve as enterprise owner of Epic University (EUTS), including course management and governance 7. Oversee training registration workflows and escalation management 8. Establish and manage enterprise training schedules across implementations, upgrades, and onboarding 9. Coordinate training readiness and impacted user identification for system changes 10. Lead Train-the-Trainer programs and ensure trainer readiness 11. Oversee development and governance of training materials, dashboards, and knowledge assets 12. Manage long-term and sustainment training strategies and alignment with operational goals

Qualifications

Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer 1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the following categories:
a. College coursework in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline
b. Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, IT systems integration, or closely related field
Conversion Guide:
i. 30 semester hours = one (1) year (12 months)
ii. Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) = eighteen (18) months
iii. 90 semester hours = two (2) years (24 months)
iv. Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) = three (3) years (36 months)
3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience may include:
a. Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Illinois; AND
b. Six (6) years' experience working as an RN, LPN, or Clinical Informatics Nurse; AND
c. Five (5) years' experience working with an electronic health records (EHR) system; AND
d. Three (3) years' experience as a Clinical Informatics Nurse
(Note: experience in #b-#d may run concurrently.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups.
- Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels and customer groups.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of effective troubleshooting methodologies.
