Job Title: QA Technician Department: Quality Control Shift: 2nd Shift from 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM Monday-Friday Will work Saturdays occasionally Summary To provide support for the Quality Control Department by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Inspects materials and product for conformance to specifications. * Performs inspections of specified orders when necessary; claim replacements, Strategic Accounts, etc. * Train associates to assist with large inspection needs. * Collect samples from inventory for testing when necessary; sourced materials. * Reads dials and meters to verify that product is conforming to internal specifications. * Performs product conformance audits. Takes corrective action to contain any non-conforming product and recommends actions to eliminate root cause of non-conformance. * Tests and measures finished products, components, or assemblies to verify adherence to internal specifications. Ensures materials and products are within established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are not irregular or damaged. * Marks items for acceptance or rejection, records test results and inspection data, and compares findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards. * Processes returns in SAP and sorts through the returned material to ensure conformance before placing back in inventory. * Sends requests for nonconforming material to be scrapped that is found during audits of returns or inventory. Scraps out material approved for scrap in SAP. * Documents findings, processes, and procedures. * Updates databases related to Returns, Box Audits, Quality Hold, and blocked inventory. * Sorts through inventory with quality issues for conforming product. * Spearheads troubleshooting of quality-related problems in products. * Liaise with slab manufacturing quality team and finishing quality team to communicate and resolve any related quality issues. * Provide consistent feedback to production teams on A/Q related issues. * Overtime is/may be required Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED with 3+ years quality, or related, experience. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook E-mail; SAP and AS400 Manufacturing software; MS Excel Spreadsheet and MS Word Processing. Other Requirements * Score <= 50 on the Farnsworth - Munsell 100 Hue Test * Must have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. * Must have experience documenting process, data, and procedures. * Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. * Should be able to work a flexible schedule to provide coverage for all shifts. * Ability to work extra hours as required by the needs of the business. * Willingness to travel to other business units as required Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
