Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Facilities Security Technician I position within the Lock Shop of the Facilities Support Division.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical locking systems and door hardware, including hinges, closers, and strike mechanisms.
  • Provide keying services, including issuing, duplicating, and managing keys based on operational needs.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergency situations, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Repair or replace defective locking components to ensure the safety, security, and functionality of County facilities.
  • Monitor and support the County-wide electronic card access system to ensure continuous and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and initiate or coordinate necessary repairs and adjustments.
  • Administer access control by issuing new and replacement access cards and updating access permissions.
  • Process customer requests related to access adjustments and access history records.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system records and documentation for both mechanical and electronic access systems.
  • Provide guidance to customers on locking systems and security solutions.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service, ensuring timely and professional communication.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently and in compliance with departmental standards and security protocols.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience in safety and security systems, mechanical/electrical/plumbing trades, carpentry, building maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least six (6) months of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, card access and/or electronic security systems.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidates must pass pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks, to include criminal justice information system (CJIS) fingerprinting. Valid driver's license and good driving record are required (driving records are reviewed annually for continued qualification).

Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday. Must be able to lift seventy (70) pounds. Must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. This position is considered "essential."
