Position Summary The Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Duties & Responsibilities - Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program in epidemiology with a focus on diabetes and related metabolic diseases. - Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research in areas such as diabetes incidence, risk factors, disparities, prevention, or outcomes. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across clinical, public health, and data science domains. - Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior researchers. - Disseminate research findings through publications, conferences, and community engagement. Teaching - Teach graduate courses in genetic epidemiology. - Develop innovative curriculum and instructional materials. - Advise and mentor students in academic and research activities. Service - Participate in departmental, school, and university committees. - Contribute to professional service through peer review, editorial work, and involvement in academic societies. - Engage with community and public health stakeholders to translate research into practice.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
