THE POSITION

Are you looking to start a career in the field of human resources? The Department of Environmental Protection's, Human Resource Office is looking for a candidate with excellent analytical and communication skills to participate in a paid, 12-month, on-the-job training program. As an Administration and Management Trainee within our agency's Talent Management section, you will provide essential consultative support to agency managers. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administration and Management Trainee, you will be providing guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and HR staff regarding the development and maintenance of position descriptions (PD), ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will learn how to monitor and identify outdated or missing descriptions, as well as coordinate classification-related activities including reclassifications, reallocations, and supervisory changes, by evaluating organizational impact, consulting with stakeholders, and facilitating required approvals and documentation. You will also have the opportunity to build strong working relationships across HR, program offices, and organizational management to ensure consistent practices and effective communication.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
