The Project Manager III is an essential function and is responsible for leading and coordinating mid-to-large scale initiatives across the organization's various operational divisions. This role serves as the connective tissue between IT, business, and clinical stakeholders, compliance, and vendor partners, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full alignment with regulatory requirements including SOX, HIPAA, and applicable healthcare standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing technology projects in a regulated healthcare environment, possesses strong communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences, and is adept at navigating the complexities of healthcare data governance, clinical workflow integration, and enterprise system implementations.
Your Impact
Project Planning & Execution
Define project scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and technical leads.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, RAID logs, and resource allocation plans.
- Lead cross-functional project teams through the full project lifecycle using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies as appropriate.
- Monitor project performance against baseline metrics and proactively address deviations.
- Provide direction and leadership to all resources in the performance of project assignments and activities.
- Identify and coordinate solutions to complex problems considering resources, human and system capacity, and limitations.
- In cooperation with Business Analysts and technical SMEs, guide development of detailed requirements, based on a thorough understanding of the business goals, objectives, and user needs.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for business leads, technical leads, and third-party technology vendors.
- Facilitate regular project status meetings, steering committee updates, and executive briefings.
- Manage vendor deliverables, SLAs, and contract milestones in accordance with executed contract terms.
- Effectively communicate and work with business users, analysts, project leaders, developers, and all levels of management across the enterprise in a fast-paced environment.
Risk, Compliance & Quality
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, with particular attention to data privacy (HIPAA), clinical safety, and change management.
- Work with the project team to develop and document mitigation plans to minimize the impact of risks if they trigger.
- Understand and maintain adherence to the established EPMO methodologies, policies, and procedures to successfully deliver complex projects.
- Demonstrate an understanding of quality standards and apply those to project planning, execution, and documentation. Ensure project team members understand the importance of applying quality practices to the outcome of the project.
Financial Oversight
- Own adherence to approved project budgets, including forecasting, variance reporting, labor tracking, and invoice validation.
- Partner with Finance and department leaders to develop and manage capital and operational project expenditures.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Produce clear, data-driven project dashboards, status reports, and post-implementation reviews for leadership.
- Champion EPMO standards, templates, and best practices to drive consistency and maturity across the project portfolio.
- Contribute to lessons-learned processes and apply insights to improve future project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree education or equivalent in a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.
- 3 - 6 years of structured project management experience in enterprise technology platforms, infrastructure, software development, or business application implementations is required.
- PMP certification from PMI is a plus.
Additional Success Factors
- Demonstrable experience in building detailed dependency-based project schedules is required.
- Proficiency in Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar project management tool is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Outlook Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
- Must be able to multi-task, work with limited supervision, have strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills to ensure all established deadlines are achieved.
- Must possess a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, a high drive to succeed, and be a problem solver.
- Must have a positive attitude towards change and be able to identify the need, remove the barriers, and progress the work.
- Experience with industry standard PPM tools (e.g. OnePlan, PlanView) is a plus.
- Understanding of the organizational change management discipline and how it is applied in project management, along with practical experience developing and implementing Change Management plans is a plus.
