Job Summary
Applies comprehensive and thorough knowledge of a variety of functions within Human Resources in support of the Human Resources Services group. Assignments include tasks related but, not limited to Human Resources Information System (HRIS) data processing, HR Systems, Benefits, Reporting and Document management areas requiring understanding of concepts, practices and procedures related to performing a wide variety of routine to moderate tasks.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Plans and accomplishes a complete range of assignments and tasks that are varied and routine to moderately complex.
- Performs a variety of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) data processing, HR Systems, Benefits, Reporting and Document management tasks. These tasks require the use of experience and skill to apply standard solutions or select an appropriate policy to follow. Work is accomplished under general supervision.
- Follows established procedures and work instructions for processing daily HR transactions including entering, updating, validating and correcting Stakeholder records or other HR related data in the Human Resources systems.
- Maintains Human Resources file room and ensures personnel records, training records and other stakeholder records (both hard copy and electronic) are maintained according to company guidelines; creates files as needed and manages file storage and destruction according to the records retention policy; maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Supports the new hire onboarding and orientation processes ensuring newly hired and rehired Stakeholders complete all pre-hire activities before scheduled start date; assists in tracking candidates through the onboarding process, prepares and sends timely notifications of candidate progress to appropriate team members; assists in preparation and collection of day one documents, processes I-9 verifications and other supporting tasks as required.
- Supports various functions of the HR Services team during times of high volume, including annual open enrollment, annual health screenings, merit and salary planning, new hire orientations and program or system implementations, etc.
- Responds to external inquiries for employment verification, DOT background/employment records, etc. via telephone, e-mail and/or mail.
- Produces standard HR reports including but, not limited to monthly, weekly, quarterly, annual (and/or ad hoc) headcount, turnover, safety, compliance and personnel data reports; prepared and provides data summaries.
- Participates in HR Services improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Provides general
administrative support which may include internal communication updates, processing invoices, filing, copying, scanning and reviewing documents.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment. |
| Minimum Qualifications |
Education Requirements
Minimum High School or GED. General studies If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.Experience Requirements 5 or more year(s) Related experience; clerical experience preferred year(s) Human Resources experience preferred Skills and Competencies
- Communicates effectively in both written and verbal form using electronic media, telephone and direct contact with internal and external personnel
- Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competency in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. SAP experience a plus
- Ability to follow structured processes, work instructions and manage multiple priorities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Previous work experience in HR systems - SAP, ADP or Cornerstone a plus
- Working knowledge of HR processes, employee documentation and confidentiality standards

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
