PATH's Epidemic Preparedness and Response (EPR) initiative leads several projects and initiatives that serve the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) and aim to strengthen global capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats. These include the five-year,Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded Global Health Security projects;the State Department STRIDES (Strengthening Infectious disease Detection Systems) Project.The Epidemic Preparedness and Response program is seeking an intern to be based in Washington, DC. Through this internship, the selected candidate(s)will provide supportto the EPR initiative on various initiatives, including support to the STRIDES project and other EPR specific initiatives.Additionally, the selected candidate(s) will provide coordination and communications support coordination efforts for Epidemic Preparedness and Response across PATH. Activities will include supporting literature reviews of global health security topics, assistance in creating communications materials (ppts, reports, etc) for the STRIDES project and the EPR initiative overall. The intern will participate in project-specific and initiative specific coordination and technical calls and supporting the team on development or refinement of project deliverables. The intern will be expected to support and facilitate efficient and clear communication across global teams of experts and provide support to new and ongoing projects. The intern may have the opportunity to widen this scope subject to project activities and personal interests. Description of the learning objectives and goals of the internship

Benefit to the intern The intern will build skills in project coordination,project management and communications,and will receive hands-onexperience supporting complex, multi-country projects within aglobalhealthorganization.The intern will also receive exposure to concepts and activities fundamental to strengthening health systems to prevent, detect, and respond to epidemicsand pandemics. The intern willgainknowledgein health information systems, laboratorysystems,outbreak response,and surveillance.Lastly, the intern will gain a deep understanding of how to work acrossmultiple countries and teams inaculturally and programmatically diverse environment.
