Responsibilities

Meridell Achievement Center isa 132-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields.We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR LVN'S TO WORK 1 WEEKDAY AND 1 WEEKEND SHIFT PER WEEK.

OurLicensed Vocational Nurse(LVN)position is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The LVN provides physical assessments of patients, implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, provides complete documentation, administers medications as prescribed and provides health care education for patients and families. The LVN is the shift supervisor of the Mental Health Technicians and ensures that the environment is safe and therapeutic for all patients. As an LVN at Meridell Achievement Center you will provide direct patient care and management for children, adolescent, and young adult patients as prescribed by the physician and treatment team;assure safety, supervision, and crisis management for patient populations; provide assessment and medical management of patients; and assist in the management of a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and / or young adults in a long-term hospital or residential setting preferred.

Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience related to the supervision of related swimming activities and safety in and around pools.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Texas LVN/LPN license required
  • Current driver license.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Demonstrate effective organization.
  • Develop and implement patient care services within discipline.
  • Consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process.
  • Provide safe nursing care.
  • Understand patient rights.
  • Basic supervisory skills.
