What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Sustainability & Circularity Analyst, this role is a member of Tesla's global sustainability team and will play a key role in supporting Tesla's strategy on sustainability and circular solutions management, compliance, and reporting; driving, and monitoring progress on defined goals; and communicating Tesla's accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Tesla's Global Sustainability team members and leaders across multiple business functions to help develop and implement Tesla's sustainability compliance program, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations and other sustainability compliance and disclosure requirements (e.g. California Climate Disclosure Laws)
- Support Tesla's circularity compliance program, working with regional colleagues to meet Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and battery recycling obligations in the Americas. Tracking related trends and developments in sustainability and circularity compliance and disclosures
- Ensuring compliance with evolving EPR legislation in the Americas and EPR obligations in new markets. Maintaining a centralized bank of knowledge and EPR data to facilitate alignment, support business continuity, and ensure audit readiness
- Working with Tesla's data analysts to establish EPR data collection processes in the Americas markets, automate data pipelines, and build self-service reporting tools. Collaborating with Finance and Legal to streamline processes around invoice payment, compliance scheme registration, and contractual agreements
- Drive the Americas circularity strategy in activities related to the reduction of Tesla's operational and products' environmental and carbon footprint in partnership with the decarbonization and circularity leads and other stakeholders across Tesla. Drive the development of circularity metrics, which includes working with local stakeholders to implement key performance indicators, data collection processes, and dashboards around remanufacturing, recycled content, and material recovery
- Support Tesla's global sustainability program by partnering with Global Sustainability team members, Investor Relations, Financial Control, Internal Audit and other leaders to support the preparation of local and global sustainability disclosures, including Tesla's Global Impact Report. Driving the development and implementation of new strategies as it relates to waste, water and other environmental topics. Supporting broader ESG reporting including business questionnaires and specified rating/ ranking agencies
- Coordinating with relevant teams to collect Tesla's global and local sustainability data collection for reporting, including energy, GHG emissions, waste and water. Supporting decarbonization lead(s) within Global Sustainability to implement and track regional decarbonization roadmaps
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Public Policy, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Communications, Finance or Business, or equivalent experience
- 4-5 years' experiencerelated to sustainabilityand / orcircular solutions-related topics, with direct experience developing and implementingsustainabilityprograms withinor fora large, global organization
- Clear understanding of sustainability issues and related reporting frameworks and regulations (e.g., TCFD, ISSB), particularly as they apply to manufacturing, mining, technology, and energy industries. Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations is a plus. Passion for impact-related work and a desire to innovate, not just check boxes
- Understanding of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Protocol, carbon accounting principles, and decarbonization roadmaps is a plus. Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to adapt to different formats (dashboards, internal trainings, annual reports, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and program management skills - possesses the ability to successfully grow compliance programs and to manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing multiple priorities and finding creative solutions to complex challenges. Strong data management and analytical skills. Ability to be flexible and change pace often
- Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders across multiple time zones. Ability to maintain discretion with sensitive and confidential information
