Description

This position provides direct and ongoing support to an assigned Commercial Lender(s). It is responsible for building a working relationship with the Lender's clients in order to better serve the clients, and may assume primary responsibility for a portion of the portfolio.

Essential Functions

Assists with Loan Origination

  • Assists Lender with applicant interview and follows up with requests for specific information for a complete and thorough loan application.
  • Requests applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to loan applicant's evaluation.
  • Responsible for spreading, analyzing, and performing in depth typed reviews of financial analyses for current and prospective borrowers for all types of business structures, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Corresponds with or speaks with applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Compiles loan package and works with Lender in order to understand the negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms.
  • Works directly with CLA and Lender to ensure timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Attends closings in order to get a full understanding of the loan process and assure that the loan is closed according to the approval document.
  • Works with Lender to help promote and cross-sell other establishment products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Assists in Servicing Lender's Portfolio

  • Provides exceptional customer service to the Lender's customer base. Works with Lender and CLA to effectively resolve problems and address customer needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • At Lender's direction, meets regularly with customers to strengthen the relationship, keep apprised of customer's business, and expand the relationship by cross-selling appropriate products and services.
  • Assists the Lender in monitoring customers' financial performance, determining appropriate credit grade, and maintaining/updating credit files with memos, updated credit information/other documentation, and performing annual reviews. Assists Lender with obtaining Borrowing Base Certificates, clearing exceptions, and checking covenant compliance.
  • Assists Lender with delinquent and/or deteriorating credits by providing updated information as available. Assists in the preparation of CAC reports and other reports as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Maintains a Level of Independence

  • Works closely with SVP of Commercial Credit (or his/her assign) to review, discuss, update, and/or correct all underwriting and CLPS preparation so it is completed in accordance with #3 of the Loan Origination section noted above.
  • Reports directly to an assigned Commercial Lender "Manager" with the Title of V.P. or above by providing regular updates to Manager, scheduling One-on-One meetings, and seeking assistance from Manager to grow his or her competence level in responsibilities as a Commercial Portfolio Manager.

Work Location: This position will be hybrid remote in Burlington, VT, with an in-person expectation 2-3 days per week.

Requirements

What You'll Need

  • College degree; Accounting courses preferred
  • Three years' commercial loan underwriting experience is required including the ability to underwrite every type of business structure and the most complex transactions
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Baker Hill Spreadsheet Software and the internet for research purposes
  • Professional appearance; grooming and dress consistent with MB appearance policy

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Varied work with a normal expenditure of energy and little or no unusual physical effort?
  • May involve incidental business machine operations
  • Work involves intermittent periods of stationary positioning and traversing
  • Working conditions include well-lit and well-ventilated areas
  • Driving to meetings and trainings is essential
