THE POSITION

This position allows you to work directly with horses while supporting essential testing procedures. You will gain valuable experience in animal handling, safety practices, and proper documentation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
This position supports the collection and handling of test samples that help ensure the integrity of racing activities at Penn National Race Course. The role involves guiding horses through testing procedures and assisting with sample collection and documentation. As a Livestock Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Sample Verification: Confirm sample kit numbers and secure all testing materials
- Horse Escorting: Guide assigned horses from the unsaddling area to the Test Barn
- Water Management: Direct horses to clean water buckets and maintain full buckets at all times
- Tattoo Validation: Assist during tattoo reading and confirmation procedures
- Sample Collection: Collect urine samples and assist with blood sampling under veterinarian direction
- Barn Upkeep: Maintain cleanliness of stalls, shed rows, and surrounding barn areas

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Post Employment Requirement:
- This position will require possession of a Commission Employee License once hired.
