Highway Foreman 2

As a Highway Foreman 2 with the Department of Transportation, you will take charge of meaningful work that supports safe travel across the region. In this position, you will oversee a highway maintenance crew responsible for a wide range of roadway repair and upkeep activities. You will ensure that projects are planned, supervised, and completed safely and efficiently. As a Highway Foreman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Supervision: Direct and guide equipment operators and laborers during maintenance and repair tasks
• Maintenance Operations: Carry out roadway activities such as patching, drainage work, debris removal, and emergency response
• Safety Leadership: Promote safe practices, oversee work zone traffic control, and respond appropriately to incidents
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs, report unusual events, and document crew or equipment issues
• Training Oversight: Teach proper tool use, reinforce maintenance procedures, and ensure quality standards are met

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,105 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
