About the Job

A Researcher 1 position is available within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will join a research group focused on advancing novel immunotherapy strategies, including the non-viral and viral engineering and expansion of primary immune cells, BiTE-driven cell therapy projects, and assist with in vivo studies to determine efficacy against multiple cancers. This role is to support ongoing preclinical studies and requires strong foundational experience in primary cell culture, immunological assays, and will require an individual that is comfortable working within two or more teams simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • (65%) Perform primary immune cell and iPSC culturing, engineering, expansion, and preclinical testing under direct supervision and according to established protocols and experimental designs
  • (10%) Assist with protocol and SOP development, including documentation and refinement of existing procedures
  • (10%) Support data compilation, preliminary analysis, and preparation of results for review and presentation
  • (10%) Conduct literature reviews and summarize background information to support ongoing project work, with guidance on scope and sources
  • (5%) Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including cleaning, maintenance of water baths and standard equipment, and preparation of reagents according to established procedures
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years
  • Molecular Techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, Sanger Sequencing, and expression vector design
  • Demonstrates experience in primary immune cell isolation and culturing
  • Immunoassay proficiency including cytotoxicity assays, flow cytometry, and multiplex cytokine assays
  • Ability to follow and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects
  • In vivo cell therapy experience is preferred
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.25 - $25.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
