Description
Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Systems Specialist - Data Center Projects to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, configure, start up, test, troubleshoot, commission, certify, document, and support the turnover of enterprise electronic security systems on assigned data center projects. You will serve as an advanced technical resource and field coordination point for projects that may include multiple buildings, phases, work areas, and subcontracted installation teams. You will work closely with project management, field leadership, technicians, subcontractors, customers, general contractors, designers, commissioning providers, and other trades to ensure systems are installed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements. The Security Systems Specialist is accountable for the technical execution, quality, problem resolution, and commissioning readiness of assigned systems and work areas. You will provide timely field information and technical recommendations to the Project Manager and Operations team while helping deliver reliable, high-quality security solutions in mission-critical environments. As a Security Systems Specialist, you are part of a dynamic team that allows you to grow as Convergint grows. Who You Are You have a passion for providing world-class service to customers, colleagues, and communities. You are a person of integrity with a commitment to growth, ownership, accountability, and delivering results. You are a self-motivated technical professional who can work independently, solve complex problems, and communicate issues before they affect the project. You understand the importance of disciplined execution, accurate documentation, quality control, and dependable system performance within a large-scale data center environment. You are comfortable taking ownership of assigned systems and work areas, providing technical direction to technicians and subcontractors, and mentoring less-experienced colleagues. You want to join an organization with a positive culture that embraces equal opportunity and allows everyone to be the best version of themselves at work and home. You want to grow with us and deliver results as an exceptional Security Systems Specialist. Who We Are With more than 20 years of proven growth and exceptional performance, our mission is to be our customer's best service provider. We realize the importance of diversity in achieving that goal. Our company was built upon a solid foundation of 10 Values and Beliefs that drive our unmatched culture, making us the #1 global, service-based systems integrator in the industry. We take great pride in protecting the lives and assets of our customers and their communities through the solutions we provide. What You'll Do With "Our Training and Your Experience"
- Convergint's greatest strength is our people. Every colleague is encouraged to participate in our Recruit Awesome People program, helping us grow Convergint by promoting our colleague-first culture and referring top talent to the Talent Acquisition Team and hiring managers.
- Install, program, configure, test, troubleshoot, repair, and commission enterprise electronic security systems. Systems will primarily include access control, video surveillance, associated servers and workstations, security network components, field devices, and related system integrations.
- Serve as a technical field leader for assigned data center projects, systems, buildings, phases, or work areas. Take ownership of technical execution from installation through system turnover.
- Provide technical direction and day-to-day coordination to Convergint technicians and subcontractor personnel. Help ensure installation activities are properly sequenced, adequately staffed, and completed in accordance with project requirements.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, approved submittals, riser diagrams, floor plans, device schedules, door details, point lists, network diagrams, sequences of operation, installation standards, requests for information, and manufacturer documentation.
- Identify discrepancies, constructability concerns, incomplete information, and conflicts between project documents and field conditions. Communicate issues promptly and provide practical technical recommendations to the Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Engineer, or other responsible parties.
- Coordinate technical installation requirements and system interfaces with project management, field leadership, customer representatives, general contractors, door-hardware contractors, electrical contractors, network teams, designers, commissioning providers, and other project stakeholders.
- Program and configure enterprise access control and video surveillance platforms in accordance with the approved design, customer standards, cybersecurity requirements, and system sequences of operation.
- Perform system start-up, point-to-point verification, device testing, functional testing, certification testing, and system commissioning. Support customer-witnessed testing, commissioning-provider testing, integrated testing, deficiency resolution, and final system acceptance.
- Verify complete system operation, including field devices, controllers, door hardware interfaces, alarm and event workflows, video streams, recording, system communications, server and workstation connectivity, and required integrations.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, programming, wiring, power, network-connectivity, device-communication, and system-integration problems. Use a structured troubleshooting process to identify root causes rather than addressing symptoms only.
- Perform first-line quality inspections of Convergint and subcontractor work. Verify that installations conform to drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, customer standards, workmanship expectations, and applicable codes.
- Identify installation deficiencies and incomplete work, document required corrective actions, and follow issues through resolution. Escalate recurring performance, quality, safety, or coordination concerns to the appropriate project or operations leader.
- Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including daily status information, inspection and testing records, commissioning forms, device inventories, issue logs, punch lists, redline drawings, configuration records, IP-address information, photographs, training records, and closeout documentation.
- Provide the Project Manager and field leadership with reliable information regarding installation progress, technical status, material readiness, quality concerns, system deficiencies, commissioning readiness, and upcoming work requirements.
- Identify potential risks involving design, scope, materials, site access, system dependencies, installation quality, safety, schedule, testing, or commissioning. Communicate risks early and assist in developing practical strategies to reduce project impact.
- Recognize potential changes in scope or field conditions that differ from the approved project documents. Document and communicate these conditions to project management before additional work is performed whenever practical.
- Verify that required materials, equipment, software, firmware, programming information, test equipment, and technical resources are available before scheduled installation, start-up, or commissioning activities. Promptly communicate shortages or readiness concerns.
- Support the preparation and execution of system demonstrations, customer training, operations training, turnover activities, and post-installation technical support.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Engineer, Operations Manager, and commissioning resources to support the overall success of assigned projects. Provide technical recommendations regarding installation methods, sequencing, quality, system performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Use technical knowledge, skills, and experience to mentor less-experienced colleagues. Help develop their installation, programming, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and customer-service capabilities.
- Act as "our customer's best service provider" at all times by demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness, accountability, and a commitment to delivering complete and dependable systems.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

- Ability to read, interpret, and mark up blueprints, specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, risers, device schedules, door details, network diagrams, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including experience with low-voltage wiring, power supplies, relays, field controllers, electrified door hardware interfaces, standard test instruments, hand tools, and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, coordinate subcontractor installation activities, assess workmanship, communicate expectations, and follow deficiencies through resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for commitments, documentation, communication, and assigned deliverables.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple work areas, systems, deficiencies, and project priorities simultaneously.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to clearly explain technical issues to project managers, customers, technicians, subcontractors, designers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to provide accurate and objective project-status information, including communicating unfavorable information or emerging risks before they affect project delivery.
- Advanced computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as PDF and drawing-markup tools, security-system software, and relevant project or document-control platforms.
- Ability to work effectively in active construction environments and comply with customer-specific safety, security, confidentiality, badging, and site-access requirements.
