About the Job

The University of Minnesota is hiring the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. Primary sport responsibility will be Men's and Women's Track and Field/Cross Country.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer position works under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer for Olympic Sports in managing the health and wellbeing of the student-athletes at the University of Minnesota. This position works collaboratively within the Athletic Medicine Unit in conjunction with Sports Performance, Sport Psychology, and Sports Nutrition for optimal outcomes.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • 50% of Appointment - Provide primary athletic training medical coverage for one or more sports to include practices, events and travel.
  • 20% of Appointment - Refer student-athletes to team physicians and/or specialists as needed.
    Administer treatment and rehabilitation per directions of team physicians, medical specialists and/or the Associate AD for Health and Performance.
  • 10% of Appointment - Maintain and supervise assigned Athletic Training Room and all other Athletic Training Rooms as needed or as scheduled.
  • 10% of Appointment - Maintain records and prepare administrative reports as required by the Associate AD for Health and Performance, the University, NCAA, WCHA, OSHA, etc.
  • 10% of Appointment - Provide work direction/educate and train immersion graduate students and/or undergraduate Athletic Medicine students and/or interns as assigned.

Other expectations during this appointment include, but are not limited to:

  • Work cooperatively with other staff, coaches and department personnel in all aspects of physical and mental health management for 22 intercollegiate athletic teams at the University of Minnesota.
  • Comply with all rules and regulations of the University of Minnesota Department of Athletics, Big Ten Conference, WCHA and NCAA.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate AD for Health and Performance.
  • Assist in advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • NATA BOC certification
  • Minnesota State licensure/Eligible for licensure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • D1 collegiate experience

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $53,000 per year - $55,000 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
