Overview Transmission Project Development (TPD), within Capital Infrastructure Delivery (CID), is seeking a highly motivated Portfolio Manager to support the integration of clean energy into Con Edisons bulk electric system. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex infrastructure initiatives, including renewable energy projects such as offshore wind, large-scale battery storage, and hydroelectric power, as well as transmission and interconnection efforts. The Portfolio Manager will work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment requiring strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups and navigate complex regulatory and operational environments. This role requires a self-motivated and resourceful professional with a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and customer service, and the ability to lead through influence, drive results, and support the successful delivery of critical clean energy infrastructure projects. This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional project teams in the planning, execution, testing, and turnover of major transmission and clean energy infrastructure projects, including third-party development and interconnection initiatives.
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment to scope, schedule, budget, and organizational objectives.
- Oversee all financial aspects of the portfolio, including budgets, billing orders, and current working estimates, while ensuring effective cost management.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules to ensure timely delivery and adherence to key milestones.
- Ensure timely acquisition of permits, licenses, and approvals, and maintain compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Legal, Real Estate, Supply Chain, Construction, and Operations) and external partners, including developers and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the primary liaison to regulatory bodies, public officials, and community stakeholders, addressing concerns and ensuring effective communication throughout project execution.
- Support the development and implementation of project delivery strategies, including non-traditional methods such as Design-Build and EPC, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Track, analyze, and report on project performance metrics (scope, schedule, budget, and compliance), ensuring accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and communications for a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership.
- Promote a strong safety culture by integrating human performance improvement tools and supporting a Zero Accident Culture, operational excellence, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Support company operations during system emergencies and other operational needs and perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Applied Physics, Business or a related field and 8 years professional experience, including experience with long-duration major development, infrastructure or Utility projects, environmental constraints, regulatory considerations, complex procurement and contracting and other complicating factors or
- Master's Degree in Business, or equivalent and 6 years professional experience, including experience with long-duration major development, infrastructure or Utility projects, environmental constraints, regulatory considerations, complex procurement and contracting and other complicating factors
Relevant Work Experience
- Experience leading, motivating and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while successfully leading projects and programs to on-schedule and within budget completion, required.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, management and computer skills, required.
- Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving project issues, prioritizing and decision-making, required.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with various levels of management and representatives of outside organizations, required.
- Be well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines, required.
- Demonstrated quantitative, analytical and reasoning abilities, with strong numeric calculation skills, including an ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, required.
- Familiarity with electrical systems and electric overhead & underground transmission and substation construction, required.
- Proven track record of relationship building skills, and an ability to take charge and run multi-discipline, stakeholder meetings, required.
- Understanding of and familiarity with the Federal Interconnection Process, including Attachments X, P, Y, and S of the New York Open Access Transmission Tariff, preferred.
- Familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, preferred.
- Experience in the areas of operations and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission facilities, preferred.
- Construction experience including experience working on large multi-million dollar construction, preferred.
- Development experience including experience working on large multi-million-dollar clean energy projects, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications

Physical Demands
- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
- Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
- Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
- Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
- Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
- Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
- Use personal vehicle(s), and be able to transport, store, and secure company laptops and other job-related equipment in vehicle. Acknowledge that reimbursement for use of personal vehicle is available through the company mileage procedure
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
