SCOPE/CONTACTS:

The SBA Loan Operations Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the Bank's Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan Operations. This role assists in all aspects of SBA loan origination, closing, funding, and servicing, as well as compliance to ensure a quality, profitable portfolio aligned with the Bank's financial and strategic objectives while maintaining full adherence to bank policy and SBA Standard Operating Procedures.

Core responsibilities include evaluating loan opportunities, overseeing and participating in the closing and funding of each loan as well as servicing the SBA portfolio. This position requires strong credit expertise and extensive knowledge of the various SBA programs.

The Loan Operations Manager plays a critical role in communicating with the SBA as it relates to portfolio management including ongoing performance data reporting and as well as responding to mandatory SBA risk and compliance reviews. This person will also take the lead on any communications and required documentation submissions related to SBA guarantee purchase requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Head of SBA Lending in loan origination ensuring compliance with bank loan policy, bank credit culture and the SBA Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Implement, maintain and manage process and procedures for various departmental tasks focusing on compliance and efficiency while working to increase loan production and profitability to the Bank.
  • Provide and maintain oversight of the SBA portfolio including performance quality and ongoing compliance.
  • Assist in various SBA loan reporting functions both internally and externally.
  • Manage the SBA operations staff and their performance to include hiring and training.
  • Participate in local, regional and national industry specific trade associations and training opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business Degree with emphasis in accounting, finance, or marketing as well as five years of previous commercial lending experience (relevant work experience may substitute for the degree requirement) is required.
  • Extensive working knowledge of SBA lending policies and procedures is necessary.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Formal credit training is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and understand financial statements of various business types as well as personal financial statements and tax returns is necessary to present a loan presentation to a committee.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to prioritize work to execute tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are necessary.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required to ascertain and respond to customer needs and objectives to advance the client relationship and meet the Bank's objectives.
  • Strong personal drive and initiative demonstrated work ethic, and ability to work independently and in a team are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and related computer applications is also required.
  • Incumbent must be able to work with limited supervision.
