Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Performance Assurance & Improvement Specialist will work under the direction of the Contract and Performance Assurance Manager, support effective and efficient implementation of the Performance Assurance programs as described in UCOR Contractor Assurance Program Description (in response to DOE O 226.1B); and drive mission focused continuous improvement initiatives in selected program areas.

The role of a Performance Assurance & Improvement Specialist will include:

    Programmatic development, improvement and implementation of Performance Assurance areas:
    • Issues Management
    • Event Investigation - TROTS (The Rest of the Story)
    • Management Assessments and Integrated Assessment Schedule
    • Lessons learned / Operating Experience
    • Performance indicators and metrics
  • The PA&I specialist will be responsible for processing issues in the issues management system;
  • The PA&I specialist will be responsible for analyzing the issues management data;
  • The PA&I specialist will be responsible for routine reporting and communication with other organizations;
  • The PA&I specialist will be responsible for supporting or leading Apparent Cause or Root Cause Analyses;
  • The PA&I specialist will conduct training on the Performance Assurance procedures and processes;
  • The PA&I specialist will Identify, analyze and effectively communicate issues and opportunities for improvement from multiple sources, e.g., observations, oversight activities, performance data, metrics, indicators, trends, causal analyses, event investigations; and
  • The PA&I specialist will need to collaborate with other team members, and across all organization and management levels to develop this role and execute responsivities commensurate with business needs and experience.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field. (required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Prior experience in performance assurance and/or contractor assurance related area.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship. (required)
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)

Please note that marijuana remains a Schedule III controlled substance under Federal Law. Federal contractors must follow Federal drug-free workplace rules, which prohibit marijuana use, even if medical or recreational use is permitted under State Law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & LOCATION DETAILS:

  • Previous experience with nuclear or highly regulated / high hazard programs including experience with corrective action and Quality Assurance systems, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Commercial Nuclear Power
  • Trained/certified Causal Analysis
  • Experience in the Department of Energy environment, and an understanding and knowledge of DOE Order 226.1 and other applicable DOE directives.
  • Trained/certified in LEAN or LEAN Six Sigma (preferably to Green Belt or higher)
  • Knowledge of environmental remediation and waste management projects
  • Experience using software application for Issues Management, Corrective Actions, etc.
