The Gas Production Technician will work in a team environment to safely operate, maintain and troubleshoot steam methane reformer, CO2 purification, high purity helium and support systems which supply an on site semiconductor manufacturer.

  • Monitor plant systems for abnormalities and respond to alarms, abnormal indications and collaborate to ensure action is taken to support 24/7 365 delivery of high purity gas to the Central Utility Plants

  • Provide 24-hour (on call, rotating between operators) support to the high purity hydrogen production plant, high purity CO2 production plant, liquid bulk, and high purity gas delivery systems.

  • Partner on the operation, repair, and start-up of said equipment.

  • Prepare hydrogen, Co2, helium, steam, cooling tower, make up water and natural Gas systems for maintenance including purging, cleaning, flushing and isolating energy sources in accordance with local and corporate instructions

  • Participate in the site's Safe Work Permit program, as both an authorized person, permit writer and worker.

  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment such as compressors, valves, pumps, cooling towers, water treatment, analyzers, and some electronic devices.

  • Operate systems in accordance with written and verbal instructions from Plant Engineers/Site Manager, and corporate standards.

  • Perform the functional testing of said equipment prior to customer acceptance.

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of gas delivery equipment.

  • Maintain, operate and calibrate specialty gas delivery equipment such as bulk tanks, analyzers, monitoring equipment.

  • Maintain historical records of equipment maintenance and/or repair.

  • Assist in the identification and resolution of gas related semiconductor-manufacturing problems.

  • Assist in drafting specifications for operating procedures/work instructions and revise existing procedures as required for the various pieces of equipment at each location.

  • Foster engagement with all customer and Air Liquide programs including, but not limited to: Safety, Training, Operations, and Preventive Maintenance.

  • Comply with all applicable HS&E Standards including, but not limited to: PPE, Lock Out/Tag Out Program, Confined Space Entry, etc.

  • Complete assigned tasks as per existing procedures and/or written and verbal instructions.

  • Ideally, you bring an understanding of engineering concepts, or a desire to learn them, and will participate in site training and qualification programs.

  • Good communication skills - ability to follow/give both written and verbal instructions.

  • The ability to work with various sized diverse groups to solve problems.

  • Support other plants within the US during turn arounds, outages and commissioning (some travel)

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Associates degree preferred

  • 6+ years of technical training or operations experience

  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays in order to meet shift and on-call requirements.

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).

  • Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment.

  • Ability to use computers-knowledge of google and Microsoft software.

  • Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude.

  • Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers.

  • Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred.

  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing

  • Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces

  • Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods

  • Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work
