DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The UCSC Office of Risk Services and Occupational Health supports the campus community by identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks that could impact the institution's faculty, staff, students, operations, assets and reputation. The department recommends strategies to reduce or eliminate risks, and administers the university's insurance programs to facilitate maximum recovery from accidental losses. The UCSC Risk Services and Occupational Health Office advises the campus community through an enterprise risk management framework to provide a holistic approach to institutional risks. By strategically managing risk we can strengthen the campus safety culture, protect the campus community and support the university's mission by minimizing potential losses and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Workers' Compensation resides within Risk Services and is responsible for maintaining campus compliance under California Workers' Compensation law. To support this mission, we take a comprehensive approach to reducing work-related injuries and improving campus health and safety through proactive outreach and collaboration. More information can be found at: https://riskservices.ucsc.edu/workers-compensation/ More information can be found at: https://riskservices.ucsc.edu/ JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Workers' Compensation and Occupational Disability Manager, the Workers' Compensation Analyst is a key member of the UCSC Office of Risk Services. This position provides support in implementing injury prevention programs and strategies to mitigate risk in the University's workers' compensation program. The Analyst coordinates assigned segments of the program and applies professional expertise to identify best practices and innovative solutions for risk reduction and claims management. A core focus of this role is analyzing work status reports and collaborating with medical providers to facilitate successful transitional return-to-work programs, ensuring that injured occupational injured staff are supported through modified duties. The Analyst collaborates closely with high-risk departments to build tailored training, and delivers ongoing educational workshops for faculty and staff.
