Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Intern, Communications and Engagement ' University Park will work in the dynamic and engaging world of communications and engagement. We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative person who is eager to learn, has relevant skills, and can quickly adapt to new tasks. This individual will work up to 19 hours per week depending on experience and skills as they collaborate with our team to gain hands-on experience essential for college relations, communications, and marketing team.

This position is a temporary internship available only to current students enrolled in higher education, or recent graduates with less that 1 year of experience. It is not intended to lead to full-time employment upon graduation. Students interested in continued employment must apply for open positions and complete the standard hiring process. Internship and employment will be re-evaluated at the end of each fall, spring, and summer semester.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, strategies, and deliverables
  2. Help support social media accounts, content creation, graphic design, scheduling, and engagement
  3. Support the development of promotional materials such as email, articles, digital ads, brochures, newsletters, and flyers
  4. Assist in reviewing, maintaining and updating articles, internal materials, communication resources, and website content
  5. Assist with research on industry trends and marketing strategies to inform strategic decision-making
  6. Assist in submitting information to various communication channels
  7. Aid in organizing, coordinating, and promoting events and programs including providing on-site support as needed
  8. Perform administrative duties as needed to support the College Relations department
  9. Assist in engaging with the community and stakeholders to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation
  10. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Self-motivated and able to handle new challenges without constant supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including copy writing
  • Proficient with social media
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
  • Familiarity with basic photography, videography, and editing to support digital content
  • Multitasking and the ability to apply complex information
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in learning new skills and taking on diverse tasks
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing and communications

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, promotional items, event materials, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • May require infrequent travel to different LSC locations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be enrolled at an institute of higher education, or recent graduate with less than 1 year of experience
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $17.58.
