THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides instruction and supervision to inmates in the electronics trade while also performing hands-on maintenance, repair, and installation tasks throughout the facility. As a Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Classroom Instruction: Deliver training that teaches standard principles and methods of the electronics trade
  • Inmate Supervision: Maintain order, track progress, and guide inmates through daily work assignments
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform testing, repair, and upkeep of communication, security, and electronic systems
  • Tool and Material Control: Issue, track, and secure tools and materials used during instruction and work tasks
  • Work Oversight: Assign tasks to inmate crews and inspect completed work
  • Technical Support: Assist with installation and troubleshooting of cabling, network jacks, and electronic components

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the testing and repair of electronic equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
