Job Description

The Buyer III assists in maintaining and carrying out policies and procedures in the Consumer Indirect Department and ensures the department is in compliance. The Buyer III is also responsible to control the full underwriting of indirect consumer loans by reviewing and decisioning applications.

Essential Functions

  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise in the underwriting process

  • Prepare and analyze reports

  • Manage workflow/workload

  • Develop/improve loan documentation quality

  • Maximize technology tools available

  • Ensure total data/document integrity

  • Process applications from dealers on the computer

  • Complete in - house searches, ratings, and pulling credit reports on applications for review of indirect lending

  • Make credit decisions on loan applications

  • Approve loan exceptions within given authority

  • Act as liaison with dealerships to handle issues and concerns

  • Handle both external and internal inquiries

  • Assist in the identification of potential problems or obstacles to success, researching potential solutions and assisting with the implementation of best practice solutions, in the development of the LOS application processing system for indirect as required, and training new buyers

  • Be familiar with/abiding by the rules of the safety and loss prevention program

  • Perform work tasks in a safe manner

  • Report any and all injuries to their supervisor

  • Know what to do in the event of an emergency

  • Minimize departmental non-payroll costs

  • Recommend / implement improvements to procedures

  • Attempt to exceed production goals

  • Manage departmental work hours and FTE's to control costs

  • Recommend / implement product/delivery enhancements

  • Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency

  • Work as part of a team

  • Work with on-site equipment

  • Ensure compliance with Northwest policies and procedures, Federal/State regulations, and with credit bureau regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, or related field preferred

  • 3 - 5 years banking/indirect lending buyer experience preferred

  • Customer service/administration experience preferred

  • Proven ability to analyze financial data
