Position Title: Seasonal Christian Education Director
Corps/Department
: The Salvation Army, King's Lake Camp

Reports to: Divisional Youth Secretary

FLSA Status: Temporary, Full-time; Non-Exempt

Dates of Employment: June 8, 2026 through July 25, 2026

Scope of Position: The Christian Education Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the spiritual formation of campers and staff throughout the summer season. This role implements the Salvation Army approved curriculum, including cabin devotions, chapel worship resources, and take-home discipleship materials. The position is dedicated primarily to Christian Education. The Director collaborates with camp leadership to ensure consistent, mission-aligned spiritual programming across all camp weeks.

Minimum Qualifications:



  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army
  3. Prior work experience in a camp setting, preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work with young people ages 7 years old and older.
  5. Must perform duties efficiently and demonstrate good judgment.
  6. Room and Board is provided as Christian Education Director must be able to stay at camp while camp is in session.
  7. Must be able to express personal Christian witness/testimony.
  8. Experience working with youth, or in a formal youth camping program, with responsibilities for Christian education and program development.
  9. Active uniformed Salvationist, who has planned and participated in Salvation Army camp programs Christian education and spiritual curriculum, preferred.


Essential Functions:



  1. Provide spiritual leadership, care, and guidance to counselors and campers
  2. Provide care and guidance through all Christian education program components for assigned camper groups.
  3. Conduct group devotions for camper groups, and provide resources to counselors and staff, every day at designated time.
  4. Complete forms related to campers, Christian education program evaluation, or other related documentation.
  5. Attend and participate in camp programs and activities.
  6. Actively participate in the spiritual formation of campers and staff.
  7. Ensure campers respect personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  8. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
  9. Ensure campers adhere to camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  10. Ensure and provide supervision and physical/emotional safety for campers and staff.
  11. Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  12. Assist in clean-up of the camp at the end of sessions/summer.
  13. Assist with all other duties as assigned.


Protect the Mission: Must complete the online courses for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.

Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of cool to warm weather conditions. Noise level is generally low but punctuated with motor and equipment operating noise. May require being out in wet weather for extended periods of time. Some work may be done in the woods.

Physical Demands:



  1. Ability to speak, sit, walk, stand, bend, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent basis; to grasp, reach, handle, push or pull objects.
  2. Ability to see and hear at normal ranges with corrective devices, if necessary.
  3. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., or more with assistance.
