As a Machinist, you'll perform setup, manual operations on a variety of machining equipment. You will also do engine component repairs that will restore, modify, or create precise dimensions and surfaces that meet engineering specifications.

What you'll do:

  • Machine products to tight tolerances.

  • Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed.

  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.

  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.

  • Adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.

  • Participate in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.

  • Work independently and as a team to achieve maximum quality.

  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience with manual machining.

  • 2 or more years of experience operating lathes or mills and using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers).

  • Ability to sit or stand at least 50% of work shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Desired Skills

  • VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
