Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a temporary Legal Recruiting Coordinator. This is a hybrid positions based in the Santa Monica office.

The Role: As a Legal Recruiting Coordinator, you will play a key role in executing our attorney recruiting, onboarding, learning, and professional development strategies. You will partner with attorneys, firm leaders, and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless and welcoming experiences for candidates and new hires. You'll help drive Orrick's innovative approach to talent acquisition and professional growth-making an impact at the local, regional, and firmwide levels.

The Coordinator will collaborate closely with attorneys, firm leadership, Human Resources, and Lawyer Development teams to ensure a seamless candidate and employee experience while supporting the day-to-day operations of a dynamic and fast-paced law firm environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities with professionalism, discretion, and a strong client-service mindset.

Responsibilities

Legal Recruiting & Associate Relations

  • Coordinate all phases of associate recruiting, including scheduling interviews, travel arrangements, hotel accommodations, expense reimbursements, and candidate communications for lateral associates, judicial law clerks, entry-level associates, and summer associate candidates
  • Assist with on-campus recruiting, job fairs, networking events, and recruiting receptions, including preparation of recruiting materials, interview packets, presentations, and job postings
  • Process resumes from candidates, referrals, and legal search firms; maintain recruiting databases, applicant tracking systems, candidate files, evaluations, and follow-up actions
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for candidates, attorneys, law schools, vendors, and search firms while supporting diversity recruiting and firmwide recruiting initiatives

Summer Associate Program

  • Coordinate local office summer program orientation, training sessions, social events, calendars, swag, presentations, attorney handbooks, and program communications for the Summer Associate Program
  • Provide local office summer program operational support by monitoring work assignments, evaluations, attorney interactions, attendance tracking, room reservations, catering, training logistics, and distribution of materials
  • Assist the recruiting team with national summer associate program planning on an as-needed basis, including summer associate reviews and the summer associate national academy

Talent Management, Human Resources & L&PD

  • Coordinate onboarding and pre-arrival activities for newly hired attorneys and staff, including orientation scheduling, new hire paperwork, background checks, bar exam and stipend reimbursements, and required documentation
  • Support employee lifecycle processes, including status changes, offboarding, etc.
  • Respond to routine inquiries regarding policies, onboarding, and procedures while maintaining compliance and employee records
  • Coordinate attorney training and professional development programs by managing schedules, room bookings, catering, attendance tracking, presenter logistics, and distribution of training materials

Office Administration

  • Coordinate employee recognition efforts, office initiatives, events, reporting, document preparation, data entry, and additional operational or administrative projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 2+ years of experience in legal recruiting, human resources, office administration, campus recruiting, or professional services preferred
  • Prior law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting attorney recruiting, summer associate programs, onboarding, or professional development initiatives preferred
  • Familiarity with legal recruiting processes and legal search firms is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and recruiting databases preferred
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with attorneys, candidates, management, vendors, and staff at all levels
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare polished and accurate correspondence and recruiting materials
  • Proactive, self-directed work style with strong initiative, accountability, and follow-through
  • Ability to anticipate issues, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and adapt quickly to changing business needs
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong technical proficiency and demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications quickly
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
  • Positive, cooperative, and service-oriented attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to support recruiting events and seasonal workflows
  • Interest in professional development and involvement with organizations such as NALP, SHRM, ALA, or similar professional associations is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $84,000.

This is a short-term, temporary position. Our temporary team members are eligible for paid sick leave where required by location.
