ASU Director (Full Time)

Location: Providence, RI

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Acute Stabilization Unit (ASU) is an innovative, trauma-informed hospital diversion and step-down behavioral health program. We are looking for a self-motivated, creative individual to lead its treatment and administrative operations.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Clinical supervision and training to members of the interdisciplinary treatment team
  • High level case consultation, care coordination, and treatment planning with unit prescribers and external providers with agency leadership
  • Curriculum design and implementation
  • Collaborate with leadership in the hiring process and in the management of any personnel issues
  • Strategic planning, data and outcomes analysis, PQI
  • Daily oversight of unit operations relative to quality client care, staff support and training, and facilities needs
  • Manage staffing budget in collaboration with the Operations and Direct Care Manager
  • Ensure staff compliance with required agency trainings
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with leadership team members to provide after-hours operational and clinical support; additional compensation is provided for on-call coverage
  • Manage compliance with health and safety regulations in collaboration with the unit Operations and Direct Care Manager
  • Manage special projects, including audits and accreditation in collaboration with the Operations and Direct Care Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

This position requires a high degree of flexibility, initiative, and willingness to learn; demonstrated skills in mentorship, supervision, and teaching; and the ability to model client-centered, trauma-informed care through an anti-oppression lens. You will collaborate closely with programs throughout our agency. The ideal candidate understands the mission and role of community mental health centers and has experience in acute and crisis settings. You will receive ongoing training, supervision, and support from leadership across the agency.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:


  • Master's degree in a human-services related field preferred - and/or, must be LCDP-eligible within 6 months of hire. Program development, training, and management experience preferred. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience providing direct services to clients experiencing behavioral health issues. Personal lived experience a plus. Emergency services, mobile crisis, and/or inpatient psychiatric experience required. Crisis intervention skills and experience required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including WORD and EXCEL
