Are you passionate about delivering exceptional administrative support? The Cataract & Refractive Ophthalmology clinic in Westwood is seeking an enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to deliver a smooth patient experience. This position will be the first point of contact for the patient visiting the clinic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Guide patients through check-in/out processes
  • Process referrals and obtain authorizations
  • Ensure accurate registration and insurance verification
  • Schedule appointments
  • Respond or route patient messages
Salary Range: $26.42-37.49. Hourly
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to schedule, check in/out, and encounter patients in the appointment registration system
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a busy and stressful environment while maintaining a calm, caring, efficient, and engaging demeanor
  • Ability to handle heavy telephone traffic and assist callers with their needs or refer them appropriately
  • Ability to set and follow through on priorities and complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in work-load, pressures, and deadlines
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly in person and on the telephone to communicate to physicians, patients, staff, and other individuals.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, co-workers, patients, and others
  • Skill in recognizing and managing emergency situations
  • Ability to run Apple and Windows operating systems, perform routine maintenance, perform software upgrades, troubleshoot common problems, protect systems from exposure to viruses and other malicious software, and run common applications programs such as email, web browsers, text editors, spreadsheets, calendars, EMR, etc.

Preferred:

  • Understanding of basic ophthalmic terminology and familiarity with the signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems so as to answer patient questions and know when urgent evaluation is indicated
