The Director, Epic Clinical Applications, is a key leader within the Information Systems (IS) Division at Children's National Hospital, reporting to the Executive Director of Enterprise Applications. This role provides strategic oversight and leadership for the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic's clinical applications, including workflows spanning Inpatient, Ambulatory (Primary and Specialty Care), and Emergency Medicine services.

This individual is responsible for ensuring that clinical technologies are aligned with care delivery priorities, support provider efficiency, and contribute to improved patient outcomes and safety. The Director partners closely with operational, clinical, and executive stakeholders to translate organizational goals into actionable technology strategies that advance evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and integrated care.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major course work in computer science, Information Technology, engineering, or equivalent related experience. (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
10 years Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare information technology, with a strong focus on clinical applications supporting inpatient, ambulatory, and emergency medicine workflows. (Required)
5 years At least 5 years in a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and manage complex implementations or optimizations of Epic systems. Experience in a pediatric or academic medical center setting is strongly preferred. (Required)

  • Data-Driven Decision Making & Analytics Enablement - Champion the use of Epic data and analytics to inform strategic decisions, drive operational efficiency, and improve patient outcomes. Partner with enterprise analytics teams to enhance Epic's role in predictive modeling and population health initiatives.

  • Enterprise Governance & Executive Collaboration - Establish and lead Epic governance structures, working closely with executive leaders to define priorities, drive investment decisions, and ensure technology solutions enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

  • Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance - Oversee Epic application compliance with HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory mandates, proactively mitigating risks related to system integrity, security, and patient safety.

  • Enterprise Communication & Stakeholder Engagement - Develop and execute executive-level communication strategies, ensuring transparent, consistent messaging around system initiatives, enhancements, and organizational impact. Serve as the primary Epic liaison for key hospital stakeholders, including the C-suite.

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual's combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications. Children's National is committed to providing a fair and competitive total rewards package to each of our employees. This base salary range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any additional compensation for which this position may be eligible.
