DESCRIPTION

Applies campus policies and procedures to resolve a variety of facilities management issues. Works on facilities management problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under the direction of the SIO Facilities Manager, assists with operational needs for research support facilities at Seaweed Canyon and SIO's long-term field research storage facilities located at Camp Elliott. Assists in the planning, organizing, and overseeing space use and daily operations at these locations.

Works with UCSD departments including Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Facilities Management (FM), Moving Services, Self-Storage, Surplus Sales, and other units to provide value-added logistical support to SIO researchers and staff. Supports the efficient use of service yards, storage containers, and other research support facilities on the Scripps campus. Assists with various facilities-related operational needs including building access control systems and other physical security measures. Provides backup support for emergency preparedness objectives/programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of practices and procedures relating to facility maintenance.

  • Written communication skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, and training documents.

  • Skills to work under pressure of deadlines in a stressful environment.

  • Active listening, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve questions, concerns, issues or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships.

  • Skills to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Working organizational skills to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines, to establish goals and work load priorities, and to meet project deadlines within budget and time constraints.

  • Working knowledge of practices and procedures of safety and emergency preparedness.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • California Drivers License required to operate University vehicles.

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to walk between multiple buildings, including up and down hills.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,938 - $109,182 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.89 - $52.29

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
