JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Metabolism in Lactation (MiLac) laboratory of Dr. Rachel Walker in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Penn State is seeking part-time research assistants to support projects related to human lactation and metabolism. This position will primarily support research activities for an NIH-funded research grant investigating biological mechanisms leading to low milk production in mothers of preterm infants. Key Responsibilities: Organizing samples for analysis General lab maintenance Completing biochemical assays Developing and testing laboratory protocols Analyzing data Assisting preparation of posters, presentations, or manuscripts Preference will be given to: Undergraduate students with experience in laboratory work either from research experience or laboratory coursework Undergraduate students Majoring in Nutritional Sciences or willing to enroll in at least one introductory nutrition course Individuals with a willingness to learn, curiosity, and ability to work independently BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
