Preventative Maintenance Service Technician

Vancouver Hauling, a Waste Connections company, is looking for our next Preventative Maintenance Technician to work on our heavy-duty trucks and equipment to keep our fleet running safely and efficiently.

Schedule:3:00 PM -11:30 PM (Regular OT available)
Pay:$36.56/HR

Safety Sensitive: Yes

PM Technicians interested in secure, steady employment are encouraged to apply.

Commercial Driver's license A or B CDL is preferred but not required.

Mechanic tools and tool box required. Shop also has tools onsite to use.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles.
  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Performs maintenance related work as required.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Experience in commercial or similar repair field is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Driver's license.
  • Basic tool set and toolbox.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software.

Working conditions & physical effort:

  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.
