Duration: 3 Months Contract

Schedule: Full-Time | 7 On / 7 Off Night Shift (Wednesday-Tuesday) | 10:00 PM - 8:30 AM


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist III for a 3-month contract opportunity in Birmingham, AL. This is a 7-on/7-off night shift role supporting both phlebotomy and laboratory assistant duties in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of phlebotomy experience, previous hospital experience, and be comfortable working independently with both pediatric and geriatric patients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Collect approximately 30-50 blood draws per shift while maintaining specimen quality.
  • Complete inpatient rounds and specimen collection throughout the facility.
  • Assist with laboratory support duties, including stocking supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Support front desk and patient registration activities as needed.
  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation in Cerner.
  • Follow infection control, HIPAA, and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Provide excellent patient care while maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work independently during overnight shifts.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 4 years of recent phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous hospital phlebotomy experience is required.
  • Experience working with both pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Strong venipuncture skills with the ability to perform 30-50 draws per shift.
  • Experience using Cerner EMR/LIS preferred.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills.
  • Ability to walk and remain on your feet for extended periods.


Work Environment

  • Hospital-based outpatient/IOP setting (OBGYN).
  • Independent overnight role.
  • Frequent walking throughout the shift.
  • One week of systems training followed by hands-on training.
