THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is seeking Mail Production Operators who enjoy hands-on work and staying focused on detail. These positions plays a key role in processing computer generated mail and keeping operations on schedule. You will work with automated machines, handle various materials, and help maintain steady workflow throughout the mail area. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on operating automated mail inserting machines, managing printed materials, and supporting daily mail production activities. It involves programming equipment, inspecting output, and handling materials to ensure accurate and efficient processing. As a Mail Production Operator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Machine Programming: Program automated mail equipment as part of daily start up procedures
  • Material Loading: Load machines with required output and inserts such as cut sheets, continuous forms, and card stock
  • Output Verification: Read verification reports and check finished work for correct addressing and proper alignment
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and adjustments to keep machines functioning properly
  • Mail Transport: Load completed mail into trays and move carts to designated processing areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Mail Production Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
