Senior Construction Manager - Power Projects

Play an integral role in shaping the successful delivery of some of the industry's most complex and strategically important power generation projects. As Senior Construction Manager, you will lead major construction programs from planning through execution, translating project objectives into actionable field strategies that deliver predictable results. Operating within a highly visible leadership position, you will influence site performance, customer confidence, workforce engagement, and project outcomes while helping to advance critical energy infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions.

You will serve as a key leader within the project organization, balancing strategic planning with operational execution to ensure construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations. This role provides the opportunity to lead large multidisciplinary teams, drive continuous improvement, and contribute directly to Worley's reputation as a trusted partner for project delivery excellence.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Construction Manager provides leadership and direction across construction execution for complex, high-impact power generation projects and programs. You will oversee construction planning, field operations, workforce performance, safety, quality, productivity, and project delivery while ensuring alignment with contractual commitments, customer objectives, and business priorities.

Working closely with Project Directors, Project Construction Directors, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, and Commissioning teams, you will translate strategic objectives into practical execution plans that optimize project performance and achieve sustainable results. Through visible leadership and disciplined execution, you will establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence across all construction activities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading construction execution across one or more major power generation projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, customer expectations, and organizational priorities.
  • Developing and overseeing integrated construction plans that translate strategic business objectives into executable site delivery strategies.
  • Driving performance across all construction activities by maintaining focus on safety, quality, productivity, schedule adherence, and cost control.
  • Providing leadership and direction to Construction Managers, Area Managers, Superintendents, Field Supervisors, and contractor organizations.
  • Establishing a culture focused on safety excellence, accountability, collaboration, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Building a thorough understanding of customer objectives, contract requirements, project risks, and organizational policies to support effective decision-making.
  • Monitoring project performance and implementing corrective actions to address schedule, cost, quality, productivity, and resource challenges.
  • Leading the resolution of complex construction and field execution issues by balancing technical, operational, and commercial considerations.
  • Supporting workforce planning, labor forecasting, contractor management, and resource allocation activities to ensure execution readiness.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery, execution efficiency, and overall construction performance.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, project controls, commissioning, and startup teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Supporting contract execution strategies through proactive management of construction risks, opportunities, and change management activities.
  • Reviewing project progress, performance metrics, and field execution plans while ensuring alignment with project goals and customer commitments.
  • Facilitating effective communication between project leadership, site personnel, contractors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Participating in customer meetings, project reviews, and executive discussions while presenting project updates, risks, recommendations, and recovery strategies.
  • Supporting organizational efforts to improve construction systems, tools, processes, and best practices across the business.
  • Promoting sustainable construction practices and responsible project delivery aligned with Worley's commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term value creation.

What you'll bring to the role

You bring a strong combination of construction leadership, commercial awareness, technical expertise, and a proven ability to deliver successful outcomes in complex project environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and industry experience.
  • Typically 15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience within power generation, energy infrastructure, industrial construction, or large capital project environments.
  • Proven experience managing complex, high-impact construction projects or programs with responsibility for safety, quality, schedule, cost, and workforce performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary construction organizations and large contractor workforces.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, field execution practices, work packaging, productivity management, and integrated project delivery.
  • Experience delivering large-scale power generation, energy infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, LNG, petrochemical, or related industrial projects.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness, including experience managing budgets, forecasts, risk mitigation strategies, and change management processes.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve complex project challenges through strategic thinking and practical execution leadership.
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives and implementing new approaches that improve delivery performance and project outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence project teams, customer representatives, and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and create alignment across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.
  • A collaborative leadership style focused on accountability, engagement, workforce development, and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction systems, project controls, scheduling methodologies, productivity analysis tools, and construction management technologies.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining alignment with project objectives, customer commitments, and organizational priorities.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership, operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, and customer success.
