This role focuses specifically on HVAC systems rather than general mechanical repairs. The position is based at our Overhaul Facility in Elkhart, IN.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems on GSE (tow tractors, belt loaders, pushback tractors, deicers, etc.) including refrigerant cycles, compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, fans, and ducting systems.
  • Perform routine HVAC inspections, leak checks, pressure tests, and preventive maintenance to maximize cooling/heating performance and ensure system reliability.
  • Install, retrofit, and upgrade HVAC components, ensuring systems meet operational, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Handle refrigerants and pressurized systems in strict compliance with EPA guidelines and company procedures, maintaining accurate service and usage records.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory. Prepare reports on system performance, maintenance schedules, and any incidents.
  • Partner with GSE mechanics, electricians, and engineering staff to integrate HVAC work with other repair and maintenance tasks, ensuring seamless equipment performance.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 3-5 years of HVAC experience in aviation, heavy equipment, or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC system diagnostics, refrigerant cycles, and repair technique
  • EPA Section 608 certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to read technical manuals and troubleshoot equipment efficiently.
  • A proactive, safety-first mindset and strong teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to stay current on industry standards and best practices through training.

NICE TO HAVE CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Med/Heavy Truck Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred.
  • Universal HVAC certification preferred.
