Duration: 6 Months, with strong likelihood of extension up to 1 year+
Work Location: Mettawa / Lake County, IL (60045)
Work Model: Hybrid (Onsite: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday; Remote: Monday, Friday)
Role Overview
The Total Rewards Business Partner (TRBP) supports the Global Total Rewards organization by managing end-to-end compensation offer formulation, data auditing, and operational compensation support across diverse business functions. The primary focus of this role is to handle high-volume, business-as-usual compensation activities-enabling senior team members to focus on year-end planning-while maintaining strict adherence to turnaround Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal equity guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Compensation Offer Development: Formulate, model, and recommend 10-15+ competitive compensation offers per week for external hires and internal mobility. Evaluate base salary, sign-on bonuses, and cash-based incentive structures using market positioning and peer group analysis.
- Advisory & Communication: Serve as the compensation advisor to Talent Acquisition (TA) and Business HR (BHR), clearly articulating the rationale and data points behind offer recommendations.
- SLA Execution: Manage and deliver high-volume offer recommendations within fast-paced turnaround SLAs (24-48 hours for external offers; 48-72 hours for internal moves).
- HRIS Data Integrity & Auditing: Pull and audit large-scale data extracts from Workday into Excel to ensure records remain accurate, complete, and aligned with company guidelines to support year-end planning cycles.
- Operational & Analytical Support: Execute routine data loads, data submissions, employee profile updates, and ad hoc compensation reporting. Support senior team members with annual reward cycles, promotion rounds, and market survey submissions.
- Benchmarking & Market Analytics: Utilize compensation tools and end-user dashboards to review market data, peer groups, and grade structures to support job evaluation and salary positioning.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Finance, Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of direct compensation/total rewards experience, or transferable experience in HR Operations, HRIS, or HR Data Analytics with demonstrated compensation knowledge.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Proficiency (Pre-Test Validated):
- Hands-on ability to build and troubleshoot Pivot Tables.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and debugging complex formulas: VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested IF statements, and aggregate functions (SUMIFS, AVERAGEIFS).
- HR Systems Navigation: Direct experience reviewing, extracting, and auditing employee compensation data within Workday or equivalent HRIS platforms.
- Analytical Judgment: Demonstrated ability to evaluate peer groups, interpret complex data sets, identify compensation anomalies, and exercise sound business judgment rather than solely relying on rule-based checklists.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver persuasive, well-reasoned compensation insights to hiring managers and recruiters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting compensation across corporate, commercial, R&D, or operations client groups.
- End-user experience navigating Power BI dashboards, Visier, Comp Analyst, or HRSoft.
- Prior exposure to formal job evaluation methodology and salary benchmarking studies.
Candidate Submission Requirements
- Excel Assessment Verification: All candidate submissions must include validated pre-assessment results or documented test scores confirming advanced Excel proficiency-specifically covering Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX MATCH, and aggregate formulas (SUMIFS/AVERAGEIFS).
